Last updated 26 October 2026. Short version: Keyboink hears which key you pressed so it can play a sound, and that's all it does with it.

Your keystrokes

Keyboink uses macOS Input Monitoring to know when a key goes down or up. It looks at the key's position, picks a sound and plays it. Keystrokes are never stored, logged, recorded or sent anywhere. Keyboink has no analytics and no crash reporter that sends data.

Your recordings and settings

Sounds you record or import, your profiles and your settings stay on your Mac in ~/Library/Application Support/Keyboink. Recording uses the microphone only while you press record.

Your license

When you activate, Keyboink sends your license key and this Mac’s name (so you can tell your Macs apart) to Dodo Payments to check the key, and checks it again about once a month. Nothing else is sent.

Buying

Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. They receive your email, payment details and country to process the order and send your key. We see your email and order, never your card.
